Role description:

We are looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to join our Toronto West Office. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and proven project coordination experience. This role involves working on a variety of transportation infrastructure projects, including municipal roads, MTO, LRT/BRT detailed design, transit planning, and traffic operations.

Climate change, urbanization and digitization trends are requiring today’s mobility projects and systems to an evolving set of demands from the world’s growing population. We design connected, sustainable solutions that integrate existing infrastructure with new technologies, and optimize the mobility of people and goods.

Role accountabilities:

  • Lead the civil engineering design for municipal and MTO infrastructure projects
  • Prepare detailed designs, reports, and drawings for roadways, site grading, driveway access, and civil works
  • Conduct technical reviews for municipal development applications
  • Lead and coordinate proposal, project planning, and execution
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and client communications
  • Support permitting and approvals processes with regulatory agencies
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across design, environmental, and construction disciplines
  • Coordinate with municipal, provincial, and utility stakeholders
  • Assist in the preparation of tender documents, cost estimates, and quantity takeoffs
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and best practices (e.g., TAC, OTM, MTO Design Standards)

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario (or eligible for licensing)
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in civil infrastructure design, preferably on municipal and MTO projects
  • Proven experience with roadway/highway design and site civil engineering
  • Proficient in software tools including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and OpenRoads
  • Strong understanding of applicable design codes, standards, and construction principles
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines
  • Experience with cost estimating, design calculations, and technical reporting

The salary range for this position is $89,600 - $134,400. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
